Host Odisha bagged a double by winning both the men’s and women’s titles in the 11th East Zone Netball Championship at J N Indoor Stadium, Cuttack earlier on Saturday. In the hard-fought finals, Odisha men beat Jharkhand 24-17, while Odisha women got the better of West Bengal 18-16. West Bengal men and Jharkhand women finished third, defeating Bihar.
Utkal University Sports Counchil chairman Prof Jayant Parida, Odisha Council of Sports Under Secretary Anant Jena, East Zone Netball Association convenor Rajendra Prasad and Odisha Netball Association secretary Pramod Kishore Panda graced the closing ceremony as guests.
